Allegheny Portage Railroad National Historic Site
Much of the land currently owned by the park had been disturbed prior to park acquisition. Human settlement and land use had altered the land and its historic view. With the homesteads removed and vehicle access now limited, the land, while it will never return to is historic state, is now returning to its natural state.
