Rainbow Bridge National Monument preserve the "extraordinary natural bridge, having an arch which is in form and appearance much like a rainbow, and which is of great scientific interest as an example of eccentric stream erosion." Redwood National and State Parks Redwood National and State Parks are home to some of the world's tallest trees: old-growth coast redwoods. The parks' mosaic of habitats include prairie/oak woodlands, mighty rivers and streams, and 37 miles of pristine Pacific coastline. Richmond National Battlefield Park Between 1861 and 1865, Union armies repeatedly set out to capture Richmond, capital of the Confederacy, and end the Civil War. Three of those campaigns came within a few miles of the city. Rio Grande Wild & Scenic River The Rio Grande Wild and Scenic River provides protection and maintenance of the pristine character of the Rio Grande from the Mexican and Texas border. Approximately 69 miles of The Rio Grande Wild and Scenic River lies within Big Bend National Park, and an additional 118 miles borders the Park. Rock Creek Park Visitors walk in the footsteps of Algonquin Indians, the Old Stone House attests to a time when Washington, D.C. was a new capital, Peirce Mill reminds us how a new technology aided the economic growth of the nation, and Civil War remnants divulge stories of unrest. Rocky Mountain National Park The park exhibits the massive grandeur of the Rocky Mountains. Trail Ridge Road crosses the Continental Divide and looks out over dozens of peaks that tower more than 13,000 feet high. The high point on Trail Ridge Road is 12,183'. .Longs Peak, the highest peak in the park, is 14,259' in elevation. Roger Williams National Memorial Roger Williams National Memorial commemorates the life of the founder of Rhode Island and a champion of the ideal of religious freedom. Roosevelt Campobello International Park The Roosevelt Campobello International Park is a unique example of international cooperation. This 2800 acre park is a joint memorial by Canada and the United States. Here are the cottage and the grounds where President Roosevelt vacationed, the waters where he sailed, and the woods, bogs, and beaches where he tramped and relaxed. Rosie the Riveter WWII Home Front National Historical Park The World War II Home Front is a significant chapter in America’s history. Fully engaged in winning World War II, American women, minorities, and men worked toward a common goal in a manner that has been unequaled since. Women affectionately known as "Rosies" helped change industry and had sweeping and lasting impacts.. Ross Lake National Recreation Area Ross Lake National Recreation Area is the most assessible part of the North Cascades National Park Service Complex. It includes three reservoirs: 12,000-acre (4,800-hectare) Ross Lake, 910-acre (364-hectare) Diablo Lake, and 210-acre (84-hectare) Gorge Lake -- water gateways to more remote areas. Russell Cave National Monument The story of Russell Cave National Monument is one of adaptation and survival. Adaptation of people to an ever changing social and natural environment, as well as discovery of the bountiful resources the forest provided, and development of the skills to use these resources for survival.
