If you are familliar with the environments ferns enjoy, you might be supprised to see the diveristy of ferns growing in the arid hills and cliffs around Amistad. You even find some growing among the pads of large prickly pears. However, the majority of ferns are found in their more traditional niche, growing in moist soils watered by springs and seeps along canyon walls.
