Biscayne National Park - Forests![]() Sub-tropical hardwood hammocks cover the higher parts of many of the park"s islands. Common trees include mahogany, paradise tree, geiger tree, stoppers, seagrape, pigeon plum, gumbo limbo, satin leaf, and ironwood. These are trees not typically found within the continental United States outside South Florida, and belie the area"s close relationship with the Caribbean. See the "Wetlands, Marshes and Swamps" section to learn about mangroves, Biscayne"s other primary forest. |
