Canyon Rims Recreation Area

Description:

Canyon Rims Recreation Area includes 100,273 acres south of Moab. Two campgrounds and four overlooks are within the Recreation Area, as well as the Trough Springs Hiking trailhead. Major activities include hiking, backpacking, and sightseeing. The primary roads within Canyon Rims, which were constructed by the BLM and include several scenic turnouts, are Utah Scenic Backways. Please visit the Moab BLM website for more information on the Canyon Rims Recreation Area. Also there are commercially-available books that have been published on the area and can offer a little more detail on specific hiking and off-roading routes.

Featured Wildlife
The bighorn sheep is the mammalian symbol of Colorado Parks and Wildlife and Colorado's official animal. Colorado is home to the largest population of the species anywhere. The animals are five to six feet long with a tail three to six inches in length.
