BLM administered public lands total approximately 257,000 acres scattered throughout the middle and lower elevations of the resource area. Over 1,000 individual parcels of BLM administered land range in size from a fraction of an acre to over 28,000 acres. Lake Shasta, Mount Shasta, the Trinity Alps, the Trinity River, and the Sacramento River attract visitors from throughout the country and other nations. The Redding Field Office is consolidating public lands in a few larger areas to meet this recreation demand and to protect important natural resources.
