Blue Ridge Parkway - FacilitiesOpen Year-round facilities on the Blue Ridge Parkway include the Folk Art Center at Milepost 384 in Asheville, the Museum of North Carolina Minerals at Milepost 331 near Spruce Pine, and the Peaks of Otter Lodge at Milepost 86 north of Roanoke, Virgina. Other facilities, including picnic areas, campgrounds, visitor centers, and concessions facilities are in full operation from May through October. Special Programs At all Blue Ridge Parkway developed areas from about May-October, ranger talks, guided hikes, fishing programs, or Junior Ranger Activities may be offered. Check at each area for the latest program. Exhibits A number of park visitor centers have a new look over the past few years with updated exhibits on the natural and cultural history of the area. Humpback Rocks (Milepost 5.8), Peaks of Otter (Milepost 86), and the Museum of North Carolina Minerals (Milepost 331) are specially designed to help you understand the Parkway region. Available Facilities From early May through October Visitor Centers are open at Humpback Rocks (MP 5.8), James River (MP 63.8), Peaks of Otter (MP 86), Virginia"s Explore Park (MP 115), Rocky Knob (MP 169), Cumberland Knob (MP 217.5), Moses H. Cone Memorial Park (MP 294.1), Linn Cove Viaduct (MP 304.4), Museum of NC Minerals (MP 331), Craggy Gardens (MP 364.6), Folk Art Center (MP 382), and Waterrock Knob (MP 451.2). |
