Claytor Lake State Park Campground

Description: Located on the 4,500 acre, 21 mile long Claytor Lake (from which the park was named) in the New River Valley of southwestern Virginia, Claytor Lake State Park offers a wide variety of activities for water and land enthusiasts. Easily accessible from Interstate 81, the park features the only full service marina in the state park system. In addition, there are miles of hiking trails, swimming, camping facilities, cabins and a visitor center. The visitor center is located in the historic Howe House. The lake and the park are named after Graham Claytor (1886-1971), who was vice president of Appalachian Power and supervised construction of the dam. Claytor Lake State Park covers 472 acres. Lake size, 4,500 acres; 21 miles long. The park has approximately three miles of lake frontage.

Battle Run Campground

Description: Battle Run Campground is conveniently located south of Summersville, WV, on the shore of the largest lake in West Virginia. Superb water quality and sheer sandstone cliffs make Summersville Lake a unique place to visit. Boating, water-skiing, swimming, fishing for large- and smallmouth bass, walleye, panfish, and catfish, (trout are stocked below the dam in the spring and fall) scuba diving, picnicking, hunting, and biking are the favorite activities enjoyed by nearly one million visitors annually. Technical rock climbing and whitewater rafting are available year round nearby, with whitewater releases below the dam on the world class Gauley River in September and October. A marina and dive shop are located on the lake with grocery stores, restaurants, and service stations located nearby in Summersville. The campground offers 117 sites, 110 with electric hookups. Blue Bend Rec Area Campground

Description: Campsites and the small picnic shelter are not reservable. The large shelter can be reserved from May 1 through September 30. The shelter is free, and first come, first served from January 1 through April 30 and October 1 through December 31. This campground is open year round.

R.d. Bailey Lake Campground

Description: Big Branch Shelter The Big Branch Day Use Shelter at R.D. Bailey Lake is located close to the headwaters of the lake. The area is open from May 1st to September 30th. Both electric and water are available at the shelter. There is a large charcoal grill and a smaller one at the shelter. The lake is located approximately 70 yards from shelter location. for your convenience, the restrooms, horseshoe pits, and playground are less than 50 yards away. also, Volleyball pit and basketball game court located nearby. Guyandotte Point Day Use Shelter The Guyandotte Point Day Use Shelter at R.D. Bailey Lake is located close to the headwaters of the lake. The area is open from May 1st to September 30th. Both electic and water are available at the shelter. There is large charcoal grill at the shelter. The lake, marina, and summer launch ramp are located approximately 1000 feet from the shelter location. Restrooms are approximately 600 feet away, and the playground system is about 300 feet away. for additional information, call 304-664- 3229. The Visitor Center Day Use Shelter The visitor Center Day Use Shelter at R.D. Bailey Lake Towers 400 feet above the dam and lake giving a spectacular view for all of our visitors. The area is open from May 1st to september 30th. Water is available at the shelter. There is a large charcoal grill at the shelter. The Visitor Center, Overlook, Restrooms, and Playground are located approximately 250 feet away from the shelter location. The head of the Salt River Trail is located 500 feet away. Description: Enjoy outstanding views from the front porch or warm up next to the stone fireplace. Sunrise is a beautiful four-bedroom, two-bath cabin with water and electrictiy. It is located off of State Route 94, near the town of Ivanhoe, VA. Many opportunities for hiking, fishing, biking, and canoeing exist in the National Forest and at the New River Trail State Park. The cabin is open from April 01 to November 30th.
