Silver Strand Sb Campground

Description: Silver Strand State Beach features extensive beaches on both the Pacific Ocean and San Diego Bay. Combined with the area's mild climate, the beaches make Silver Strand one of the area's finest recreation destinations. Camping, swimming, surfing, boating, water-skiing, volleyball, and picnicking are popular activities. Anglers can fish for perch, corbina, grunion and yellow-fin croaker. Ramadas, tables, barbecue pits, and fire rings are available in the area. South of the developed area, there are one and a half miles of ocean and natural preserve. Strolling along the beach, visitors can see moonsnails, concleshells, and an occasional sand dollar in the sand.

More than half of the park is classified as "wilderness", meaning all vehicles, even bicycles, are prohibited. There are more than 100 miles of riding and hiking trails, including the Cuyamaca Peak Trail which climbs to the 6,512-foot summit with a spectacular of the Pacific, Colorado Desert, Mexico, and the Salton Sea. Laguna Campground

Description: Laguna Mountain Recreation Area is located at an elevation of 6,000 feet. Facilities provided include paved roads, showers, restrooms and telephone. The area includes hiking trails and a meadow. In the summer of 2000, a fence was constructed adjacent to Meadow Loop to protect the endangered Laguna Skipper Butterfly. If you have reserved Meadow Loop sites in the past, this fence may affect the way you traditionally recreated in this site. To protect the Laguna Skipper, campers cannot enter the area behind this fence. Your cooperation is essential in order to keep these campsites open. Special Programs: - Saturday evening events at the Amphitheater. - Children's activities on Saturdays. A fee of $2 per pet per day beginning with the second pet will be collected at the campground. (The first pet is free.)

Burnt Rancheria Campground

Description: Located 50 miles east of San Diego at the Laguna Mountain Recreation Area. Elevation is 6,000 feet. There is access to the Pacific Crest Trail. This heavily wooded campground has been refurbished with new restrooms and coin-operated showers. All roads and parking spaces have been widened andlengthened and paved. Each site has a table and fire ring. Site capacities are 8 people and 2 vehicles. Tents are allowed in all sites. Please select your site carefully - no site changes will be made at the campground. Very nice, clean campground. For additional info call on-site staff during the open season @619-473-0120 or 619-473-8119 or the Forest Service during the winter @619-445-6235. Fires are allowed in fire rings only. Firewood must fit completely inside the ring. Wooden pallets are not allowed. A fee of $2 per pet per day beginning with the second pet will be collected at the campground. (The first pet is free). Showers are open and operational from mid-May through early October only due to local temperatures.
