Crescent Lake Cabin is an extremely remote and secluded place to stay in the Kenai Mountains of southeastern Alaska. While it is recommended for more hardy travelers, it provides access to great fishing opportunities, as well as hunting, wildlife viewing and trails. The cabin can be accessed by float plane, or hiking, biking, horseback riding, skiing and snowmobiling on a trail that requires up to seven miles of trekking. Guests are responsible for their own travel arrangements and safety, and must bring several of their own amenities.
From milepost 45 on the Sterling Highway, access the Crescent Creek Trail and trek about 6.5 miles to the cabin. It is also accessible by float plane (15 minute flight from Moose Pass or 20 minute flight from Cooper Landing). Winter travelers need to be able to evaluate avalanche and over-ice travel conditions. The trail is closed to horse/pack stock from April 1 to June 30, and is closed to motor vehicles between May 1 and Nov. 30. Refer to USGS maps Seward B7, C7 and C8. Maps are available online or by calling the Seward Ranger District at (907) 224-3374.
