Located approximately fifty miles southeast of San Bernardino, California, at an elevation of 7,500 feet. Campground is located in a forested area. Roads and spurs are NOT paved. Campsites have picnic tables and fire rings. Campfires are allowed within the fire rings provided. Firewood is not sold at the campgrounds. Vault toilets and potable water are nearby. Trailers are not recommended. This campground is designated as a group campground for a group of up to 100 people with up to 30 vehicles. Located 16 miles North of Idyllwild.

Open from: May 15, 2008 through October 27, 2008. Note: Campground may be closed prior to October 27 if weather conditions warrant it. Reservations must be made at least 3 days in advance. A site must be reserved for a minimum of 3 nights on major holidays. Holders of Golden Age, Golden Access, America the Beautiful senior or Access Passports are entitled to 50% campsite fee reduction. Holder of the passport must be present. There are no refunds for inclement weather. Fire restrictions may be imposed at any time due to hot, dry weather conditions, at which time campfires and charcoal fires may or may not be allowed. Water may not be available. For current Fire or Water conditions contact the Idyllwild Ranger Station at (909) 382-2922. Gas, jellied petroleum and pressurized liquid fuel stoves are allowed in campgrounds. Dogs are allowed but must be ona leash at all times.
Black Mountain (Sanbernardino) (CA) PO Box 518 Idyllwild CA 92549 From I-10 exit 8th St. in Banning, CA, turn right onto 8th St, then left on Lincoln St, then right on San GorgonioAve/Highway 243. From I-10W exit Hargrove St, turn left onto Hargrove St, then right on Lincoln St. the left on San Gorgonio Ave/Highway 243. Go south on Highway 243, for approximately 17.5 miles to Black Mtn. Road(4S01 dirt road). Travel 8 miles on 4S01 (dirt road) to Black Mountain Group Campground. Note: Black Mountain Road (4S01) is an unpaved forest road not recommended for low clearance vehicles or trailers.
