Grays Meadows Campground Description

Located in the eastern Sierra, six miles west of the town of Independence, California near Onion Valley and the Shepherd Pass Trailhead. Campground is located next to a stream that is stocked weekly. Sites 10, 12, 13, 14, 40, 41, 46, and 51 are close to the creek. Night time security patrols are provided during periods of high bear activity. Early trout fishing season starts first weekend in March. Some sites available on a first come, first serve basis. Firewood for sale in campground.

Grays Meadows Campground Alerts

Reservations must be made at least 4 days in advance. There is currently no bear activity in the campground. Food should be stored properly. Bear proof food storage is available. Campground is patrolled at night by security teams during periods of high bear activity. A fee of $7 for extra vehicles will be collected at the campground.

Grays Meadows Campground Directions

Grays Meadows (CA) Independence CA Take Highway 395 to Independence. Turn west on Market Street (that turns into Onion Valley Road) and follow road 6 miles. First gate accesses sites 36-52. Second gate is 1/4 mile up road and accesses sites 1-35. Manager is on site #7.
