
The Bishop Mountain was built by the CCC in 1938. The one room cabin housed Forest Service and BLM fire lookouts from then until the early 1980s The Cabin is 13 miles off main hwy. on a gravel road. Closest Town Ashton, Idaho, 30 miles South This cabin comfortably sleeps 4 guests. The cabin does not provide electricity, therefore please bring battery or gas powered lights. There is a wood stove for cooking and heating and wood is provided on site. Please bring your own drinking water. Please bring garbage bags. This facility is "Pack it in. Pack it out."

From approximately Nov. 15th to May 15 access is by snowmobile only. Do not attempt travel to or from the cabin during severe snowstorms, whiteouts frequently occur making it very difficult to find your way. Pickup and return key to the Ashton Ranger Station, Ashton Idaho between 8am and 4:30 pm. To arrange for after hours pickup and return call 208-652-7442 during regular business hours to make arrangement.
