Axtel Campground Description

Rough River Lake lies within the "Clifty" area of the Pennyroyal Region of Kentucky. A wide variety of recreational opportunities and facilities has been provided for visitor enjoyment by the Corps and the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Visitation at the lake now exceeds two million visitor days annually. This campground has 158 sites, swimming area, boat launching ramp, dump station, flush restrooms, playground, showers and potable water.

Reservations must be made at least 2 days in advance. 3 night minimum on holidays. No Alcohol. No ATV's or ORV's allowed. The campground is open first of May to mid-September and sites range from $15-$22/night Attendants are on duty and the telephone number is (270) 257-2584., Registered campers are still permitted to swim in the area by their campsites, at their own risk, but not at the beach area.
