Swan Cabin Campground Description

The cabin is a one and a half story log structure consisting of three rooms on the lower floor and a loft on the upper floor. A Fisher wood stove heats the dwelling. Nine beds are offered, which include three double bunk frames, two single bed frames, and one double bed frame. Each are strung with rope to accommodate sleeping bags; total bed number is nine. A SST toilet is adjacent to the cabin, and a spring within a quarter mile may provide a water source. (Water should Be boiled or treated.) There is no electricity or running water at the cabin.The cabin is located in remote area.

The cabin is located near the Joyce Kilmer Slickrock Wilderness. There are approximately 80 miles of hiking trails. Employees of the Cheoah Ranger District will try and minimize noise/interruption due to required maintenance or mowing during your stay at the cabin. However, either could possibly happen during your stay. The cabin is locked, make sure you have the combination prior to arrival. Call district office and confirm the combination number. (828-479-6431) *Swan Cabin will be closed on June 9, 2008 for installation of wood stove and other site maintenance.*

Swan Cabin (NC) 500 SWAN CABIN ROAD Robbisville NC 28771 From Robbinsville Hwy 129North: Approx 2 miles turn to the lEFT onto 143 West (Massey Branch Road), you will pass the Ranger Office, continue to the stop sign ( approx. 2.2 miles).At the stop sign turn RIGHT continuing on 143 west for approximately 6.9 miles. At this point turn RIGHT on NC 1134 toward Joyce Kilmer. Continue only about 50 feet. Turn LEFT onto Forest Service Road 81. Continue on this gravel road approximately 8 miles. Turn RIGHT onto 81F & continue for 2.7 miles.Swan cabin is on your LEFT off of 81-F.
