
Chickasaw National Recreation Area offers activities all year. Streams and lakes cater to boaters, swimmers, and anglers, while its forests and prairies reward hikers, wildlife photographers, and campers. Buckhorn area campgrounds are within close proximity to the Lake of the Arbuckles. Beautiful campsites and excellent atmosphere make this area a great place to camp. Reservations must be made at least 7 days in advance. 2 night minimum on weekends. 3 night minimum on holidays. Emergency contact may be made through the Sulphur Police Department (580) 622-2000 or by dialing 911. Please provide your full name, site location & number, date of arrival & departure, vehicle description & tag number to friends or family members who may need to contact you. Cell phones do not work in all areas of the campground. Racoons frequent the area. All food must be kept in proper containers to prevent animal entry. There may be snakes around the brush or shoreline. All equipment must fit on the site pad. Vehicles park in established (paved or gravel) areas only. Letter must be presented to camphost prior to occupying a site. Please note: There are limited ADA sites available for persons with disabilities. If you do not need an accessible site, please choose another one. If you reserve this site and do not need it, you may be asked to relocate upon or after arrival to a different site. Proof of disability may be requested upon arrival. No off road vehicles, golf carts, or scooters permitted. All vehicles and drivers must be licensed. All pets must be leashed at all times and are not permitted within the swimming or sunbathing areas. All water vessels require a Chickasaw National Recreation Area lake permit. State permits for hunting and fishing are required within Chickasaw National Recreation Area. Frequent weather changes occur within this area. Be prepared for severe heat, wind, rain, and possible tornados.
Buckhorn Campground (Ok) Chickasaw Nra 1008 W. 2ND Sulphur OK 73086 From I35, take Exit #55 and drive towards the city of Davis, OK. Once in Davis, go east on Highway 7 to the Chickasaw National Recreation Area you desire. Watch for the Chickasaw National Recreation Area signs to direct you to your selected area: Buckhorn Campgrounds, Pavilion, and Picnic Area - Drive approximately 8 miles east of Davis to the only 4 way STOP (Jct Hwy 7 and Hwy 177) in the city of Sulphur. Turn south (right) for approximately 5 miles on Hwy 177. Turn west (right) at Buckhorn Road and drive approximately 3 miles west. Follow the directional signs. This loop is the southeast corner of Arbuckle Lake.
