Cathedral Valley Campground

The Cathedral Campground is located approximately halfway on the Cathedral Valley loop road which traverses Capitol Reef's Cathedral District. About 36 miles from the Visitor Center, this primitive, no-fee campground has six sites, each with a picnic table and fire grate. There is a pit toilet, but no water available. The campground is open year-round; however, visitors should check road conditions with the Capitol Reef Visitor Center prior to planning an overnight stay. The campground is at approximately 7000 feet in elevation, in the Pinyon/Juniper-clad foothills of Thousand Lake Mountain. No reservations; first-come, first-served.

Cedar Mesa Campground

The Cedar Mesa Campground is located approximately 35 miles south of Utah State Highway 24 on the Notom-Bullfrog Road and is at 5,500 feet in elevation. This primitive, no-fee campground has five sites, each with a picnic table and fire grate. There is also a pit toilet, but no water is available. The campground is open year-round, but visitors should check with the Capitol Reef Visitor Center for road conditions prior to planning an overnight stay. The 3.5-mile round-trip Red Canyon trail leads from the campground through Pinyon and Juniper trees into a large box canyon. No reservations; first-come, first-served.

Bowery Creek Campground

Description: Please note, weather permitting, this park is open annually from May 15th to September 15th. Located in south central Utah, 50 miles southeast of the town of Richfield. Elevation is 9,000 feet. Be prepared for inclement weather. Fish Lake is within a short walking distance of the campground. There is a watchable wildlife scenic byway (Fishlake Scenic Byway) that travels past the campground. Three resorts are located in the Fish Lake Basin and offer camping and fishing supplies, RV parks with hook-ups, cabin and boat rentals, marinas, gas, dining facilities, limited groceries, laundromat, showers and telephones. The resorts are open from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

Cowpuncher Guard Station Campground

Description: Located about 20 miles north/east of Escalante Utah, this rustic two room, cabin sleeps four people comfortably. A small trout stream runs in front of the cabin. Summer days are warm and nights are cool. Facilities provided include one double bed, one set of bunk beds, couch, propane cook range, wood cook stove, propane refrigerator, hot water heater, lanterns and indoor shower. An outhouse is located just down a trail from the cabin. Bring your own bedding. Some pots and pans and dishes are provided. There is no electricity. Water may not be available. Camping is not allowed at this site. Please do not use tents, motorhomes, or RVs. No saddle, pack or draft animals are allowed. Popular activities include: stream fishing, hiking, mountain biking, and big game hunting. ATV's all allowed to ingress and egress only. Please bring garbage bags. This facility is "Pack it in. Pack it out."

Posy Lake Campground

Description: Campground is located next to a beautiful, small fishing lake in a forest aspen and ponderosa pine. Campground elevation is just under 8000 ft. Access to a hiking trail from campground to lookout on a mountainside. It is close to Bryce Canyon National Park, Kodachrome State Park, Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, Petrified Forest State Park, and Anasazi State Park. Vehicles over 30 ft. in length are not recommended because of turns. Also hiking access to the Great Western Trail.
