Interpreters describe the fort"s construction and its role in the defense of New York Harbor during the War of 1812. Learn about Castle Clinton"s changing roles as New York City grew. View the dioramas in the museum exhibit to see how Lower Manhattan developed. Ranger-led programs and tours last 20 to 40 minutes. Self-guided tours require 20 minutes. A Junior Ranger educational activity is available for children. Free concerts are offered during the summer. Call (212)344-7220 for information. School groups and tour groups desiring a guided tour should make advance reservations by contacting a ranger at (212)344-7220 at least one week in advance.
