To Park: From Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport (20 minutes from Yorktown), Norfolk International Airport (one hour east) and Richmond International Airport (one hour west) provide commercial air service.
Colonial National Historical Park is located a short distance from Interstate 64 (I-64). Eastbound from the Richmond area via I-64, take Route 199, exit 242A for Jamestown or exit 242B for Yorktown, to the Colonial Parkway. Follow the parkway to its end. West bound Interstate 64 from the Virginia Beach/Norfolk/Hampton area for Yorktown should take Route 105 East (Fort Eustis Boulevard east), exit 250B to Route 17 (George Washington Memorial Highway). Turn left (North) onto Route 17. Follow the signs to the Yorktown Battlefield. Westbound Interstate 64 for Jamestown should take Route 199, exit 242A, to the Colonial Parkway following it to its end. In Park: personal vehicles, bicycles (on paved surfaces only) and on foot. The Colonial Parkway (23 miles) connects the Yorktown and Jamestown units of the park
Let us bus you around! From March 16 through November 1, 2009, the Historic Triangle Shuttle provides free shuttle service from the Colonial Williamsburg Visitor Center to and from the Jamestown and Yorktown areas. This shuttle service travels the scenic Colonial Parkway. There is no charge for the service. Service to both Jamestown and Yorktown depart the Colonial Williamsburg Visitor Center every hour and half-hour between 9:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. daily.
Service to Jamestown makes stops at both Historic Jamestowne (the original site of the first permanent English settlement in North America, administered by the National Park Service and APVA Preservation Virginia) and Jamestown Settlement (a living history museum run by the Commonwealth of Virginia's Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation). Return service to Colonial Williamsburg departs every half-hour from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a final pickup from Historic Jamestowne at 5:15 p.m.
At Jamestown serivce to the various Jamestown attractions is offered by the Jamestown Area Shuttle, which makes stops at the Historic Jamestowne Visitor Center; the Jamestown Glasshouse, also a part of Historic Jamestowne; Jamestown Settlement; and the Jamestown Neck-of-Land Information Station, located along the Colonial Parkway. Completing a loop approximately every 10-15 minutes, the service is free and is available between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. through November 1, 2009.
At Yorktown, the Yorktown Trolley provides a service between the Yorktown Battlefield Visitor Center and the Yorktown Victory Center, with stops in the village and at the new Riverfront Landing. The Trolley stops at nine different locations. It operates between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. This is a continuous service making a round trip of the route about every 20 minutes. Holiday routes and times may vary. No bus pass is required to board this shuttle.
The Jamestown Area Shuttle and Yorktown Trolley are strictly public transportation service and do not provide guide service for Jamestown or Yorktown attracktions.
