Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument - GrassesDuring the summer, visitors to Florissant are often treated to breezes carrying the pleasant vanilla - like smell of the Ponderosa pines which dominate the Montane life zone that occurs within the Monument. Small mixed stands of fir, spruce, and aspen are also found within the Monument. Limber and Bristlecone pine, although rare, are found on some of the ridges in the Monument. |
