Operating Hours & Seasons

Daily: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; closed December 25. Ford"s Theatre is an active theatre and may close temporarily with little notice, especially just before and after productions for rehearsals and set changes. The theatre will also be closed during matinees.The Lincoln Museum and the Petersen House will remain open for tours during matinees and rehearsals.

We HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you use public transportation to arrive in Washington, DC as there will be VERY limited parking, various road closures throughout the day, and congestion due to crowds. Be prepared to walk to most locations.

Getting There

Plane
BWI, Dulles, and National Airports serve the Washington, DC metro area. National Airport is the closest and is served by Metrorail.

Car
Parking is severly limited in the downtown area. Ford"s Theatre is located near the intersection of 10th and E Streets in the northwest section of the city. It is a block north of the FBI building on Pennsylvania Avenue.

If you choose to bring your car, you can arrive in Washington, DC in the following ways:

From the west: take Interstate 66, Route 50 or 29

From the north: take Interstate 495, New York Avenue, Rock Creek Parkway, George Washington Memorial Parkway, or the Cabin John Parkway

From the east: take Routes 50, 1, or 4

From the south: take Interstate 66 or 395

Bus
Tenth Street NW is open and the sidewalk, crosswalk and street lights improvements are almost done. Tour buses and tour groups should use the designated pick-up and drop-off areas on the west side of 10th Street NW for all loading and unloading of visitors. No loading or unloading of visitors is permitted on E Street between 9th and 10th Streets NW.

Public Transportation
Metro buses and rail service the area. The closest Metro Rail station is Metro Center at 11th and G Streets. Taxi service is also available.

Getting Around

Tourmobile offers paid tours and transportation to various places of interest in Washington, DC and Arlington National Cemetery. You may embark and disembark at any of the stops at any time. Tickets may be purchased from the drivers on the blue and white buses.
