Hells Canyon National Recreation Area

Description:

Hells Canyon was designated a national recreation area in 1975. The 652,500 acre canyon has a maximum depth of 7,900 ft making it the deepest gorge in North America.
Major attractions are the Snake River with jet boats and float craft permitted, 3 Wild and Scenic Rivers, Hells Canyon All American Scenic Byway, National Trails, and the Hells Canyon Wilderness.

Directions:

From Portland, OR: Drive east on I-84 to LaGrande,OR (approx 5 hours) or to Baker City, Oregon (approx 6 hours) to reach our recreation area.
