The National Forests of North Carolina (NFsNC) include four national forests (Nantahala, Uwharrie, Pisgah, and Croatan) covering 1.2 million acres, from the mountains to the sea. These forests provide a wealth of recreational opportunities including hunting, fishing, hiking, climbing and water sports. At the Cradle of Forestry, visitors can learn about the history of forest management in the United States. The Appalachian Trail, Blue Ridge Parkway, and Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest are just a few of the attractions.
