The trouble with many women's entry-level boards is that they don't have much to offer after you figure out how to make consistent turns on the blue runs. While other companies churn out near-disposable beginner snowboards, Burton used quality components in their Women's Feather snowboard, creating a reliable all-terrain freestyle snowboard that enhances the brand reputation--and creates dedicated return customers. The Feather features Burton's Fly wood core, a balance of lighter woods in specific areas for better response and denser woods where support is essential. Bi-directional layers in the Biax React fiberglass give the board a little more flex than boards with Triax fiberglass, giving you a little more forgiveness when you need it. The Lightspeed Vision Base offers an incredibly smooth extruded base that can glide even without wax. The "Vision" in the name means that you'll never have to worry about others looking at dull graphics when you drop off a berm. Keep in mind that the Feather has a negative core profile, not an even core profile that sometimes offers more stability (and possibly some future limitations) to beginners. The negative core profile could lengthen the learning curve a tad for a few riders, but the advantage is that new female riders learn how to control the board through independent foot control sooner than riders who later transition (with added expense) to a negative core snowboard. Because most Burton boards feature a negative core profile, transitioning from a Feather to a more advanced design doesn't require much adaptation.
Itz an awsome ride.
4 all girlz who love flex and durability in a board, this 1 is 4 u. It let's u stomp landings softly of of the smallest jumps to the 20 footers. Rails and boxes r a breeze because the board follows yur leg movement, and the flex makes landings easier. I'd recommend it 2 any gal who loves a flexible all mountain ride.
Sweet ride
I recently picked up the 2005 Burton Feather as my first board purchase and I love it! This board is lightweight and has a soft flex - perfect for the beginner who's learning to turn and who wants to build confidence. Not so great on powder as on groomed though. Sweet ride for the money. Good choice for a first board.
