A mid-sized trekking pack with the 'X' frame suspension is great for a short outing or a younger explorer.
size matters
This is a great pack. It's comfortable and the construction is great. The strap adjustability helps me grow into it as I get taller, I'm only 14! I would definitely get another deuter if mine gets stolen because I know this bag is going to last a long time.
Outstanding!
I've hiked and climbed for over 40 years and owned a lot of fine packs but this is without a doubt the finest pack I have owned. It's construction and attention to detail is outstanding, and the highly adjustable suspension is the best I have experienced to date. Carrying a full load over 18 miles of trail and 5,000 ft of elevation gain was remarkably stable and comfortable, resulting in noticeably less fatigue. Deuter's 100 years of designing fine packs is readily apparent and I would definitely recommend including Deuter packs on your short list to be considered for climbing, skiing, or backpacking.
An ideal week-ender, plus some
This is an exceptional pack for overnighters and weekend trips. The separate bottom compartment will easily accomodate a compressible bag and the hood pockets are great for the small gear. I packed tent, bag, personal gear and food for a recent weekend trip and it performed like a quality pack should. The torso adjustment system works well and came in handy for fitting the pack to my short torso length.
