A weatherproof single wall, a strong and unique pole structure and attached vestibule make the lightweight Alpinist an ideal choice for high-end mountaineering or lightweight crest-trail cruises.
Great Tent, great warrant
This tent is extremely easy to setup (even in the pouring rain) and has served us well through all seasons. Unfortunately, while trying to set it up in a hail storm, I broke a tent pole. This sounds like the beginning of a bad review, but it comes with some nice extra pole pieces that we were able to rig so our trip could continue with a standing tent. After getting home and sending it away for free Marmot got a new pole back to us within 4 weeks. Marmot rocks!
Well constructed, with nice touches.
Easy to set up, sturdy, and long enough (I am 6'1"). This is the first Marmot tent I have owned. I usually stick with Mountain Hardwear (I have a Meridian, and Light Wedge II), but I needed something for winter camping, and this tent had everything I was looking for. It seems to be bomb proof, although I have not tested it in alpine conditions. Very pleased so far.
Great design
This tent has served me well. It is my favorite so far and I have owned several 4season tents. It kept 2 of us dry in pouring rain and did not produce condensation at all. Enough room for two 6" adults and lots of head room too. My favorite feature is the ease of assembly (through external clips) which takes only a minute or two even when it's very windy out there....and the integrated vestibule to leave the stinky shoes and the backpack dry. Very light and compact design.
