Great jacket
I bought this jacket for backpacking trips where I'd encounter ice and snow. So far it has not disappointed. It provides the exceptional warmth of down, but without the usual 'Michelin Tire Man' look/feel. It's a sharp looking jacket where you get a lot of function without sacrificing on form. The hood is down insulated, and while it seems a little over sized, once you cinch it down it fits nice and snug. So far I've worn it in rain/sleet and in temps down into the 20s. This is definitely a COLD weather jacket. Going from low temps outside into a restaurant/store it can get a little too warm if you're wearing several layers underneath, which is where the pit vents come in handy. The waterproof shell sheds water and ice very well. The one-handed cinches on the waist and the hood pulls are both nice features and both release quickly/easily as well. I've found these features are both handy when I need to head into or out of bad weather quickly. This is a waist coat, not a lap coat, and so I was worried that it might ride up my back when sitting down or reaching, but so far that's not been the case. I am 6'5", 210 lbs., with a 36-37 sleeve and the XL fits me great in the chest, waist and sleeves. Overall a great jacket that I'm very happy with.
My favorite down jacket
This is a great MH jacket and you get what you pay for in terms of quality/materials. I used this jacket mainly for casual winter wear and it kept me warm up in frigid ND. Subzero temps require some layering, but it's ideal from the 0-30F range. Compared my other down jackets (North face 650/550, cloudveil 500), this jacket is actually less puffy even though it's technically 800 fill. Still keeps me just as warm. I'm 5'3" athletic build, this jacket fits a bit larger than other MH jackets. Particularly, it's a bit longer through the waist and wider sleeves. Overall good fit, you don't look like a marshmallow and it has a nice tech feel. So what I don't like? First, the main zipper gets snagged VERY easily. You get use to it, but it's annoying. Also, the hood is a bit goofy. If you don't zip the coat all the way up it tends to hang to one side, a bit sloppy looking. But once tightened up it's not bad. Overall hit, it's my go to winter jacket and so far has been keeping my warm and dry in the early spring conditions.
Thin and light jacket sems pretty warm
Just got this jacket. I am 5'4 and after looking at sizing chart, I bought small size based on sleeve length. However, it seems a bit too small for me so I am getting a Medium. It said 800 filled but jacket seems pretty thin. I tested out in the cold at night and I didn't feel cold at all. I hope this will keep me warm in the cold mountains. Quality of jacket seems pretty good.
