Combining athletic features with rich outdoor styling, the New Balance MW749 Shoe for men is a rugged country walker that gives back casual comfort for miles. The subtle leather and mesh upper is wrapped in a Stability Web with an external heel counter to minimize midfoot flex and foot motion. Abzorb multi-layed foam at the heel and forefoot, which consists of a proprietary blend that includes Dupont Engage and Isoprene rubber, combines with compression molded C-CAP EVA midsole to provide long lasting cushioning. Rich eyerow hardware compliments the topside, while a non-marking outsole takes care of the bottom.

Great Shoe for the Money!
I used to wear the New Balance 965 country walker, but the last pair I bought did not fit anywhere near as well as the previous. When I looked to replace them, I found the NB was discontinuuing the model, and every store that had them had jacked the price up $15. So I looked for something else. I tried another brand from a local shoe store that seemed good in the store, but after a few days, fell flat. I surfed the net and found the 749's. I could not find a local store that had them, so I ordered online (1st time for shoes). I was amazed at the fit, the feel the weight, the list goes on. Granted, I have only been wearing these for about 4.5 days now, but I am thinking of ordering a 2nd pair. They have great traction, but not too much to catch on everythig. They have good support (I have Plantar Fasciitis and these feel great on my feet). They are also quite light, which is surprising for how sturdy they feel. Lastly, they are still stylish enough that I can wear them daily (I am a project Manager for an Engineering Firm). I only give 4 stars since I have only had them a short while. Let's see if the they warrant 5 stars!
