NRS Boundary Shoe

by NRS

The Boundary Shoe pushes the limits of what a neoprene boot can do; it's a touring, canoeing and portaging dream. When wading is inevitable, you'll appreciate the knee-high, waterproof 5-mm neoprene upper. Comfy 7-mm insole atop a 7-mm rubber sole provides the protection and support you've come to expect from our footwear. 2-mm plastic shim for even more protection from sharp, pointy objects. Based on our popular Paddle Shoe, this mukluk-style boot features a high-traction sole and arch strap for secure footing. Each shoe is individually tested to ensure it's waterproof.

waterproof & warm
These are neccesary for cold weather kayaking. Feet are dry at the end save for sweat you get in neoprene. They're about 2/3-3-4 the way up my calf to my knee, which is perfect for launching and wading around in freezing cold water in perfect comfort without being unneccesarily bulky during the vast majority of the time when you don't need them. They seem a few inches taller than the older models a few years back, and the extra height is perfect. I don't notice I'm wearing giant boots while kayaking, as the fit is very nice. Not much to say about their use in cold-weather kayaking, as it's pretty straghtforward, and the just simply fit the bill perfectly. And I know I'll lugging them in the daypack in the spring-summer to help ford icy shallow creeks and runoff I get in the mountains, or even muddy cold swampy muck. The cinch at the top would even keep enough water out of the boot to allow going full knee deep or more without getting cold feet halfway across a raging spring runoff. And the tread seems quite durable, and that it would afford very good footing on creek rock beds during crossings. No more turning back at unexpectedly difficult cold creeks in the middle of favorite loops.

The Best for Me
I kayak all over Puget Sound and have tried all sorts of water shoe / boot combinations. The Boundary Boot ended a long search for the right kayaking footwear for me. Firstmost desire in such a boot was that I could maneuver in knee high waters without getting my feet wet (and to straddle launch without getting my feet wet): the boundary shoe fits the bill as they come up just below my knee. I can get in and out quickly, easily and DRYLY. Secondmost is: they are easy to get on and off. Thirdmost they are very comfortable and my feet are always warm(I've worn them non-stop for a 3 day trip without issue). Fourthmost: they are pretty darn rugged. I've hopped rocks, drug kayaks and jet skis , and ran down rocky beaches and they are still in perfect condition. My kayaking partners, noticing them, have all bought the boundary boots. The smaller boots / shoes might be for some people - but the Boundary Boots are for me and have become essential part of every water trip I take: ocean, river, lake & kayak, canoe or jet ski.

Perfect for launching my kayak in cold water!
Your Boundary shoe really filled the bill for me for fall/winter kayaking. I can now wade into very cold water to launch my kayak without the discomfort of cold, wet feet. My feet stayed warm and dry even though the air temp was in the low 40's. Now I can keep kayaking until ice forms on the lake! Thanks for an excellent product and wonderful customer service.
