Our warmest fleece, made to enhance mobility in frigid temperatures and prevent windchill nightmares. Now with a toastier fabric package - variegated fiber R2 on the inside and full-loft R2 on the outside, sandwiching a windproof laminate - our stretchy R4 excels alone or under a shell. Its lack of shoulder seams allows pack-wearing comfort, and the high-placed handwarmer pockets stay clear of a harness. The women's jacket has invisible zippers on the handwarmers and feminine contouring. Made in USA. Regulator SystemRegulator is an integrated system (base, insulation, shell) that works in unison to keep you dryer and more comfortable over a wider range of conditions than a traditional waterproof layering system.

Snuggly
On occasion I "stole" my husband's R4 when it's really cold and it is so snuggly that I had to get my own! It's all it says it is plus more. I love my own R4...plenty roomy, looong sleeves. Highly recommend it (and so does he).

So warm and cozy
I love this jacket. It is very warm for its weight and so delightfully soft. I find myself grabbing it out of the closet day after day. It works well on its own, even in a stiff wind. It also makes a great layer under a shell, though at temperatures much above 40 degrees, this combination might start getting too warm.

More Patagonia goodness.
This high quality women's Patagonia R4 Jacket is an excellent midweight layer, which can be worn under a shell for added warmth on very cold days, or by itself with a light base layer underneath on cool days. The fabric is extremely soft and plush, making it very comfortable to the touch. My wife wears it when jogging, backpacking, bicycling, and other activities, and is happy with its performance.
