Experienced technical gurus usually shy away from outerwear that touts "breathable and highly wind resistant" in the same sentence, because the wind barrier often traps perspiration. Outdoor Research worked around this by added mesh accents under the arms and along the shoulders to improve airflow and vapor transfer. These mesh accents are narrow enough to keep you comfortable without being chilled in cooler breezes. The outer shell fabric on the Avid Jacket has a DWR finish that resists moisture far better than some breathable windbreaker jackets.
