George Washington Birthplace National Monument - Activities

Ranger programs begin on the hour from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m at the birthsite. The Ranger program visits the Colonial Kitchen and concludes at the Memorial House.

Exploration of the Living Colonial Farm is encouraged to enhance your understanding of the world of George Washington"s youth. Costumed interpretation is provided seasonally by volunteers or when staffing permits.

A picnic area on scenic Popes Creek is enjoyable during the warmer months. Hike the 1 mile long Nature Trail adjacent to the picnic area. Walk along the Potomac River at the beach area (no swimming allowed). Visit the Washington Family Burial Ground where George Washington"s father, grandfather and great-grandfather are buried.
