Details
To camp in the park in a location other than a developed campground on the rim you must
obtain a permit from the Backcountry Information Center, this includes Bright Angel
Campground at Phantom Ranch. All campsites in the Inner Canyon require a backcountry permit.
Applying well in advance is recommended although a small number of permits are sometimes
available for the same day.
Desert View Campground, South Rim
Details
Desert View Campground is located 25 miles east of Grand Canyon Village (South Rim) and
is open mid-May (weather permitting) though mid-October. Desert View Campground is available
on a first-come, first-served basis (no reservations). Hook-ups are not available.

Details
Open year-round. Operated by the National Park Service and located in Grand Canyon
Village, this campground offers tent and RV camping (no hook-ups, 30 foot trailer or RV
maximum). Reservations are strongly recommended from April through November. For online
reservations, visit http://reservations.nps.gov/ or call (800) 365-2267; outside the U.S.
call (301) 722-1257. A maximum of two vehicles, six people, three tents are allowed per
site. (A vehicle which is towing a trailer, pop-up, tent trailer, fifth wheel, or a
motorhome pulling a vehicle is considered 2 vehicles.) Group sites are also available,
maximum of 50 people and three vehicles per group site. Sites may be reserved up to five
months in advance. From November until March 1st reservations are not available and
campsites are on a first-come first-served basis. Pets are allowed but must be leashed at
all times and may not be left unattended. Wood and charcoal fires permitted in provided
campsite grills only. No gathering of down wood, wood may be purchased at the general store.
Laundry and showers located near the campground for a fee. Golden Age or Golden Access
passport holders pay only 1/2 price year round (passport number is needed when making
reservation and passport holder must be camping at the site). Accessible campsites and
restrooms are available.
North Rim Campground

Out-of-Park Camping North Rim
Details
The Forest Service operates 2 campgrounds: 16 and 45 miles north of the North Rim.
Dispersed camping is permitted in the national forest outside the park.
Out-of-Park Camping South Rim
Details
There is a commercial campground in Tusayan, 7 miles south of Grand Canyon Village
(Camper Village, 928-638-2887), and a Forest Service campground (Ten X, 928-638-2443) 2
miles south of Tusayan in the Kaibab National Forest. Dispersed camping is permitted in the
national forest outside the park.

Trailer Village (adjacent to Mather Campground on the South Rim) offers RV sites with
hook-ups; reservations strongly suggested. Campers may register at the entrance to Trailer

Description: Spring Valley Cabin was built in 1917. It served as the residence for "Rangers" who worked at the Guard Station. The "bunkhouse" was the original office. The cabin is still occasionally used as a field station for Forest Service employees. We encourage you to enjoy the peace and quiet spectacular views, wildlife viewing opportunities, nearby cross country ski trails and time "away from it all". Nearby Cities: Flagstaff, AZ approximately 20 miles east and the City of Williams, AZ is approximately 20 miles west from the rental cabin. Elevvation: 7320 ft. The weather in always changing in Northern Arizona, so we encourage you to be prepared for changeable mountain weather, cold nights, thunderstorms, and snow from fall through spring.

Little Elden Springs Horsecamp Campground

Description: Located in the Ponderosa pine trees with a view of San Francisco Peaks. There is alot of wildlife activity in the area. BBQ grills and picnic tables are provided at each site. All manure must be cleaned from the site before departure. Do not use trash receptacles for manure disposal. Popular activities in the area include horseback riding, hiking and wildlife viewing. Toilets are barrier-free, but the campground is not. There is a maximum of 4 animals per site. Two hitching posts are provided per site. Extra parking is available.

Kendrick Cabin Campground

Description: This rustic 3-bedroom stone and wood cabin is located in the scenic Kendrick Park area. It has wonderful views of the San Francisco Peaks, Kendrick Mountain and the surrounding forest. It is located in an area that provides excellent hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding opportunities. The cabin is suitable for groups of up to 10 people. Dogs are allowed but must remain outside. No more than 4 horses/mules permitted on the cabin grounds. Please clean up after all your animals. Off road vehicle users, recognize your role in protecting the wild lands surrounding Kendrick Cabin. Please tread lightly and stay on designated roads complying with regulations applicable to your vehicle. The cabin has running water from approximately late May to early October. There is a separate restroom building with a flush toilet, sink and shower that is usable between the above dates. When water is shut off in non-peak seasons, an outhouse toilet is available. Inside the cabin there are propane lights, a propane stove top (no oven) and a small refrigerator. There is a combined dining and living room with two queen size futons, dining table and chairs, and wood heating stove. It is furnished with one double bed downstairs and two twin beds in each of the two bedrooms upstairs. Kitchen supplies include pots, pans, utensils, dishes, stove top coffeepot and can opener. On the grounds is an outdoor BBQ grill, a fire ring and a picnic table. The cabin has small covered front porch and open deck. Kendrick Cabin is located approximately 22 miles north of Flagstaff, Arizona and is easily accessible off Hwy 180. The Grand Canyon is 58 miles from the cabin. Kendrick Cabin sits at 7,900 ft in elevation. Supplies you need to bring: Sheets, blankets (or sleeping bags) for one double bed, two queen futons and 4 single beds, pillows, flashlights, towels, garbage bags, warm clothes, dish washing liquid, dish towels. Bring an ax for splitting firewood and matches and newspaper for the woodstove. Lawn chairs are nice for the summer time. Cell phone coverage in this area can be fair. Pack out all food and trash when checking out of cabin. A cabin manual is located inside of the cabin to answer cabin specific questions during your stay as well as provide you with area recreational information. Cabin has no electricity or phone and all appliances and lighting are run on propane. Instructions for use of all propane adapted items is located in the cabin manual inside the cabin.

Fernow Cabin Campground

Description: This rustic 3-bedroom log cabin is located in a beautiful ponderosa pine setting on the Mogollon Rim. Nestled in a scenic draw, the site is isolated, private and provides a great opportunity for getting back to nature. Expect cool nights spring through fall and some warm days in summer. The cabin is suitable for groups of up to 8 people. Dogs are allowed but must be kept outside. No more than 4 horses/mules permitted on the cabin grounds. Please clean up after all your animals. Off road vehicle users, recognize your role in protecting the wild lands surrounding Fernow Cabin. Please tread lightly and stay on designated roads complying with regulations applicable to your vehicle. The cabin has running water from approximately late May to early October. There is an indoor shower that is usable with in the above dates. Inside the kitchen it has a stove/oven and a small refrigerator. There is also a small dining area, hot water heater, propane lights, woodstove with firewood furnished and a covered porch. It is furnished with a double bed and dresser in one down stairs bedroom, a full size futon and dresser in the other, and four single beds in the upstairs loft. The kitchen supplies include pots, pans, utensils, dishes, stove top coffee pot and a can opener. The toilet is a short walking distance from the cabin. On the ground there is an outdoor BBQ grill/fire ring combination, two picnic tables, and a small corral. The cabin and toilet are not accessible for wheelchairs. Fernow Cabin is located approximately 22 miles south of Flagstaff and the Grand Canyon is 102 miles from the cabin. All roads are suitable for high clearance vehicles. Roads worsen during snow or heavy rains. Fernow Cabin sits at 6,700 ft in elevation. Supplies you need to bring: Sheets and blankets (or sleeping bags) for two double beds and four single beds, pillows, flashlights, towels, garbage bags, warm clothes, dish washing liquid, dish towels, matches and newspaper for the wood stove. Bring an ax for splitting firewood. Lawn chairs are nice for the summer months. Cell phone coverage at the cabin is poor. Pack out all food and trash when checking out. A cabin manual is located inside of the cabin to answer cabin specific questions during your stay as well as provide you with area recreational information.
