The Junior Ranger Discovery Pack is for aspiring naturalists (ages 9-14). Explore the wonders of Grand Canyon ecology with your family . After attending a one and a half hour ranger-led program, you can check out a Discovery Pack for the day. It is complete with binoculars, hand lens, field guides, and other important tools of a real Park Ranger Naturalist. After spending the day recording your observations in your Discovery Pack Field Journal, you will return the pack and discuss your findings with a ranger. This will earn you the Junior Ranger Discovery Pack certificate and entitles you to the special discovery pack patch. Completion of this program also fulfills the requirement of attending a ranger program for your Junior Ranger Activity Booklet (Raven, Coyote or Scorpion award). Consult the official park newspaper, The Guide, for current start times and locations. This program is only offered during the summer months, usually between Memorial Day and Labor Day.
