Elks Flat Campground

Description: The campground is located in a grass meadow surrounded by dispersed stands of cottonwood, quaking aspen, douglas fir, and ponderosa pine. The South Fork Boise River runs along the eastern edge of the campground Rafting swimming and fishing are among the many recreational activities Green Creek Trail 270 is located near the campground. Green Creek Trail is approximately 4.5 miles in length, motorized, and rated "MODERATE" in difficulty, this trail intersects with Cross Cut Trail 172, another Motor- ized system. Telephone is located within the campground.

Dog Creek Campground

Description: Located four miles north of the town of Pine, Idaho, in a ponderosa pine forest. Situated along the banks of Dog Creek, within 1/8 mile of the South Fork Boise River. Sites are shaded and quiet and well away from the road. Deer and humming birds are often sighted. There is a motorized trail 1/4 mile to the north. Fishing is allowed in South Fork Boise River. Facilities provided include tent pads, fire grills, tables, garbage pick-up (dumpster), and drinking water. The water system is pressurized and there are three water faucets located throughout the campground. Some first come, first serve sites may be available.

Big Trinity Cabin Campground

Description: Cabin is located at an elevation of 8,500 fee in a dense lodgepole forest. The cabin has three separate rooms: Kitchen, living area and bedroom. The cabin contains a double bed, side tables, drop down kitchen table, cleaning supplies, dishes and tableware, pots and pans, fire extinguisher, hide-a-bed sofa, chairs and dining table. A wood stove provides heat and cooking facilities inside. Picnic table and fire grill are provided outside. Drinking water is available from a nearby hand pump well. A shed is located behind the cabin and is stocked with seasoned wood, a splitting maul, axe and hatchet. East Fork Roaring River is near. Activities include fishing the Subalpin Lakes for rainbow and cutthroat trout, wildlife viewing, and bird watching. Phone service is one hour away.

Description: The woodstove currently cannot be used for safety reasons. From this cabin, the Middle Fork of the Boise River is about 1/4 mile away. The Middle Fork River has quality trout fishing in the summer. The cabin is located in the historic town of Atlanta, Idaho offering several historic building to tour. An added bonus is a hot spring located by the Powerplant Campground about 1 mile up river. This cabin will accommodate up to 4 people. It is equipped with a modern plumbing system, and electricity. The kitchen has a sink with hot water and a propane stove and refrigerator. The indoor bathroom features a flushing toilet, sink, and shower. There is a bunk bed, a fold-out bed inside the couch and one single bed, bring your own bedding. When needed the cabin can be heated with propane wall heaters or a small woodstove. This cabin is approximately 61.5 road miles east of Idaho City. From Idaho City take highway 21 for 18 miles to Crooked River-Little Owl Road #384. Turn right and stay on road #384 for 13.5 miles to the North Fork Boise River Road #327. Turn left and stay on Road #327 for 13 miles to Middle Fork Boise River Road #268. Turn left on Road #268 and drive approximately 17 miles upriver to Atlanta. When entering Atlanta take the first left onto Road #205 and drive 1/4 mile to the Atlanta Rental Cabin within the historic Ranger Station compound, it is the first cabin on the left and signed as the "Rental Cabin". These roads are generally in good, yet somewhat rough conditions. It can be traveled weather permitting by two wheel passenger cars or trucks. No groups larger than 4 people are allowed at the cabin or within the cabin yard area. No tents, motor homes or trailers are allowed at this site.

For hiking, Trail #047 takes you to the scenic Hot Creek and Lake areas. An added bonus is a hot springs located on the Middle Fork Boise River off Road #268 about three miles west of cabin. This cabin is small and will accommodate only 4 people. It is equipped with plumbing, but no electricity. The kitchen has a sink with hot water and a propane stove and refrigerator. The indoor bathroom features a flush toilet, sink and shower. There is a double bed and a set of bunk beds. The cabin is heated with propane. A campfire ring is located outside the cabin. You can gather firewood around Dutch Creek. This road is usually best in spring/early summer, after which road conditions get dusty and rough. Cabin is open from Memorial Day Weekend in May to September 30th. No groups larger than 4 people are allowed at the cabin or within the cabin yard area. No tents, motor homes or trailers are allowed at this site. The total distance from Boise, ID 62.5 miles not 191 miles.

Description: At this cabin, the Middle Fork of the Boise River is literally in your backyard, and the river offers quality fishing. For hiking, Trail #047 takes you to the scenic Hot Creek and Lake areas. An added bonus is hot springs located on the Middle Fork Boise River off Road #268 about three miles west of cabin. The total distance from Boise ID 62 miles. The Dutch Creek Guard Station is broken up into two separate cabins, main cabin and the office cabin. There is a main cabin that accommodates 4 and a small cabin will also accommodate 4. Neither cabin has running water or electricity. There is a propane heater and a wood stove in the large cabin. There is no heat source in the small cabin. Please come properly prepared in the winter. The outhouse is located near the cabin. Each cabin has one bunk bed and a futon. A campfire ring is located outside the cabin. You can gather firewood around Dutch Creek. This cabin is approximately 46 miles east of Idaho City. From Idaho City take highway 21 for 18 miles to Crooked River-Little Owl Road #384. Turn right and stay on Road #384 for 13.5 miles to North Fork Boise River Road #327. Turn left and stay on Road #327 for 13 miles to Middle Fork Boise River Road #268. Turn right on Road #268 and drive 1 mile to Dutch Creek, they are the double cabins on the left. This road is generally in good, yet somewhat rough condition. It can be traveled in good weather by two wheel passenger cars or trucks. An alternative to Dutch Creek is to drive up Middle Fork Boise River Road #268 at High Bridge on Highway 21 and follow this road for 52 miles to the cabin. This road is usually best in spring/early summer, after which road conditions get dusty and rough. No groups larger than 6 people are allowed at the cabin or within the cabin yard area. No tents, motor homes or trailers are allowed at this site.
