Hagerman Fossil Beds National Monument - For KidsChildren visiting Hagerman Fossil Beds enjoy seeing the informational DVD at the Visitor Center. While there the children’s Discovery Center is sure to be a fun spot to explore. Out on the Monument, the family can hike along the Emigrant Trail and pretend they’re one of the many people who walked over 1,300 miles so far on this trek west. Or you can walk along the Oregon Trail and check out the wagon ruts left so many years ago. Educational school programs are offered throughout the school year. Reservations are required. Teachers - we also offer the traveling trunk. The traveling trunk was developed to help teachers bring the wonders of the Hagerman Fossil Beds National Monument a little closer to students and assist them in better understanding and appreciating this tremendous resource. Trunks are geared for grades 4-6 or 7-12 and are free to use. The only cost is the return shipping. Teachers - reserve a trunk today! Participants have a variety of activities to choose from in order to earn their badge.
