Jamestown National Historic Site - FacilitiesJamestown Fort Excavation Site Open Open All Year 10:00 - 4:00 Location Adjecent to the Jamestown Church inside the Confederate earthwork. Special Programs APVA volunteer guides will provide information on the current status of the Archealogy Excavation of James Fort. Church guides are also available April through October. MUSEUMS Dale House Gallery Open Open All Year 10:00 - 4:00 Location West of the Confederate Earthwork next to the Jamestown Church Tower. Dale House Gallery is approximately 150 yards west of the NPS Visitor Center. Exhibits The APVA"s Jamestown Rediscovery Project display of artifacts recovered during the search for the 1607 triangular fort. Replica of JR102C, the skeleton of the man they found buried in a coffin inside the fort. This individual was shot and exhibits a musket ball in the knee which shattered the leg bone. VISITOR CENTERS NPS Visitor Information Station Open Open All Year 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Phone 757-229-1733 Location Located on Jamestown Island the NPS Visitor Information station is one mile from Jamestown"s entrance station and Glasshouse. Closures December 25 and January 1. Jamestown may close due to unforseen weather conditions or power outages. Special Programs Seasonally: Pinch Pot Program, School Educational Programs, Living History Character tours, and year round Ranger Guided tours as staffing permits. Available Facilities Information desk and bookstore. Restroom facilities at footbridge just outside Visitor Information Station. |
