Operating Hours Seasons

The Information Center in Seward offers information, videos, maps, publications and exhibits. Interpretive programs are offered daily during the summer months.

The Kenai Fjords Information Center in Seward's small boat harbor is open daily during the summer season:

May 2 - May 22 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

May 23 - September 1 8:30 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.

September 2 - September 25 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Getting There

Plane

Currently there is no regularly scheduled air service between Anchorage and Seward, however charter flights may be available. Contact the Seward Chamber of Commerce for more information.

Car

The park lies 130 road miles south of Anchorage on the Seward Highway. The park's Information Center is located in Seward's small boat harbor.

Bus

Bus service is available year round between Anchorage and Seward.

Getting Around

In summer, Exit Glacier can be reached by car on a paved road and a short trail. Exit Glacier is the only portion of the park accessible by road. Turn on to the Herman Leirer Road at Mile 3 of the Seward Highway, this 9 mile road leads to the Exit Glacier Nature Center. A 3/4 mile walk will take you to the glacier's terminus. The first 1/4 mile of this trail is completely accessible via a paved trail. A steeper trail continues across moraines and bedrock. Visitors may return to the Nature Center via a nature trail. The Harding Icefield can be reached by trail or air. Air and boat charters provide access to the fjord.
