Description: Interrorem Cabin was built in 1907 as the first administrative sit of Olympic National Forest by Emery J. Finch, Ranger and Hoodsport Pioneer. A stay in the cabin takes visitors back to an era without electricity -- take the time to enjoy the quiet beauty of the area. The interpretive nature trail near the cabin and the historic pictures in the cabin add to the experience of everyday life when Ranger Finch brought his bride Mabel to live in the cabin in 1908. The 24 by 20 foot log cabin has a kitchen, living room and bedroom. It sleeps four with a twin bunk bed and futon couch which opens to a full size bed. There is no electricity. The cabin is equipped with a propane heater, refrigerator, cook range and lights, and it is furnished with chairs, a dining table, dishes, pots, pans, silverware and utensils. Propane is provided. There is an outdoor vault toilet. Potable water is available at the hand-pump well near the trailhead parking. Located in the Duckabush Recreation Area, Interrorem Cabin has nearby access to the Duckabush River, The Brothers Wilderness, Olympic National Park and Hood Canal. It is an excellent location for short family day hikes, fishing, bird watching, wildlife viewing and rain forest atmosphere.
