There are no campgrounds within Lincoln Home National Historic Site, nor in downtown Springfield, Illinois. There are, however, a number of campgrounds nearby. Information is available through the Springfield Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Wilborn Creek (group Camp) Campground
Mileage:51 mi
Description: Approximately 9 miles west of Sullivan. Public beach, boat ramp, playground, and picnic shelter in area. Please do not drive or park vehicles on the grass. Vehicles must be parked in designated parking places. The group camp has 10 picnic tables and 10 grills. This is primarily a tent area. There are no RV pads, but RVs may park in the parking lot. There are no electric hook-ups. There is a beach with showers, a boat ramp, and a playground approximately 1 mile from the group campground. The beach and showers are open from 8am to sunset. Description: Lake Shelbyville is a favorite destination for fishermen seeking largemouth bass, crappie, white bass, bluegill, channel catfish, walleye, and muskie. The lake offers hunting opportunities for whitetail deer, squirrel, quail, pheasant, mourning dove, rabbit and waterfowl. Opossum Creek Recreation Area is located north of the city of Shelbyville on the west side of the lake. Opossum Creek has 51 electric sites and 28 non-electric sites, of which 66 are reservable. Lithia Springs Recreation Area is located northeast of the city of Shelbyville on the east side of the lake. Lithia Springs has 113 electric sites with a total of 67 reservable sites. Lithia Springs has flush toilets, showers, a playground, a beach, a trailer dump station, and a boat ramp. Lithia Springs marina is located adjacent to the recreation area. At normal summer pool level, the banks are steep and it is diffucult to get to the waters edge in many locations.
