Monocacy National Battlefield - Lakes and Ponds

Home > Monocacy > Park Info > Nature and Science > Lakes and Ponds

In addition to the river and many streams, there are also two man-made ponds in the park. One is located next to the Visitor Center on the Gambrill Farm and the other is located on the Thomas Farm. Both ponds were constructed for farming purposes to provide water to livestock. These ponds are home to a variety of fish and amphibian species, as well as a refuge for ducks and geese.
