Morristown National Historical Park - Mammals

Morristown National Historical Park

For many visitors, the park’s abundant White-tailed Deer population provides a conspicuous wildlife encounter. Current estimates of the deer population in the Jockey Hollow Unit of the park are approximately 60-70 deer sq. mi. Other large faunal species such as Coyote, Black Bear and Red Fox are rarely observed. Common smaller mammals include Red and Gray Squirrel, Rabbit, Skunk, Raccoons and several species of bats including the Big Brown Bat, Red Bat, Little Brown Bat and Northern Long-Eared Bat.
