Morristown National Historical Park - Soils

The majority of the park consists of rocky gravelly soils formed on the uplands of bedrock and glacial till. The Parker associated soils (two of the soil classifications found at Morristown) have implications of historical land use as they were not suitable for farming and were more conducive for wood and hunting territory. On the contrary, the Riverhead soils, another soil class found at the park, would have been suitable for agriculture.
