Located in the NW corner of the park, 5 miles E of the Carbon River Entrance. Elevation 2300'. 28 individual sites + 2 group sites. Pit toilets. Suitable for RVs and tents. No potable water. ROAD IS SUBJECT TO FLOODING--CHECK CURRENT STATUS. The road is open to high clearance vehicles only.

Big Creek Campground

Description: Big Creek Campground is located 6 miles from the west entrance to Mt. Rainier National Park. This family campground is nestled in large first and second growth of pine, fir and cedar trees. A small stream runs through the campground for swimming and brook trout can be found for the fisherman. Many outdoor activities include a trail for horses, trail bikes and foot traffic to the top of the mountain for a days outing. Northwest Land Management values your comments. American River Guard Station Campground

Description: American River Guard Station is located about 40 miles west of Naches, Washington on the banks of the American River in the eastern Cascade Mountains. The rustic cabin and outhouse were built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1941. Activities in the area include fishing, wildlife viewing, birding, hiking, and winter play. The guard station is near trails leading into the William O. Douglas Wilderness and just 10 miles from Bumping Lake. Summer temperatures are generally sunny and warm with little precipitation. Altitude is 2780 feet. The cabin is a group site with a capacity of 8 people and up to 4 passenger vehicles. The site includes a furnished cabin with a kitchen, living room, small bedroom, finished second story sleeping loft, outhouse, and outdoor picnic table and fire ring. The cabin has electricity, light fixtures, a refrigerator and range as well as a lighted outhouse. The cabin DOES NOT have running water or indoor plumbing. There is a wood stove and an auxiliary baseboard heater, as well as a coffee pot, dishes and utensils, dining table and chairs, two twin beds in the loft, a queen size bed in the bedroom, a queen size sleeper sofa in the living room, various side tables, and a variety of cleaning supplies. A supply of firewood is not guaranteed, but is often available. Bring your own water (watercan be obtained from pitcher pumps at neighboring campgrounds in the summer season only). Trash can be disposed of at the nearby American Forks Campground. Guests are expected to supply their own linens/bed rolls and to clean the cabin prior to their departure.

Description: Bumping Lake Campground sits just off the shores of Bumping Lake located in the Cascade Mountains east of Mount Rainier National Park about 29 miles northwest of Naches, Washington. This single site family campground consists of 65 back in and pull though sites with parking spurs up to 40 feet in length. Bumping Lake makes a great base camp for activities like: going for a hike on the American Ridge Trail, hunting, bike riding, sight seeing, whitewater paddling and fishing opportunities for kokanee and rainbow trout. Elevation at 3500 feet also makes summer days very pleasant with the temperatures commonly reach the 70s. Bumping Lake Campground is managed by Northwest Land Management. The campground has an open design, picnic tables, and a vault toilet with a capacity of 15 vehicles and 60 people. Water can be obtained from a pitcher pump at the nearby Hell's Crossing Campground. Trash removal is "Pack It In - Pack It Out" This site is located in an old growth forest and ants can be abundant at times.
