Navajo National Monument - FacilitiesVISITOR CENTERS Navajo National Monument Visitor Center Open Open All Year 8 AM to 5 PM Phone 928-672-2700 Location Nine miles north of Black Mesa Junction with US Hwy 160 on AZ Hwy 564, on Navajo Nation in Northern Arizona. Special Programs Local Navajo demonstrators ply their arts: silversmithing, painting, pottery-making, basket-making, and rug weaving. Exhibits The exhibits feature various material artifacts from the ancestral puebloan people who built the cliff dwellings, including pots, textiles, jewelry, and a replica of a Betatakin room cluster. There are huge photos of the three main cliff dwellings here. The auditorium features movies about the Betatakin cliff dwelling and the ancestral puebloan (Hitsasinom)people. A Navajo traditional hogan, sweat lodge, and 19th century wagon are located behind visitor center. Available Facilities Restrooms and a public phone are also available. |
