Nez Perce National Historical Park - Amphibians

Wetlands and waterbodies have played important roles in Nimiipuu lifestyles. Many species of wildlife inhabit these areas and lack of information regarding amphibians is of concern. Being in a semi-arid environment the diversity of amphibians is low, but those present are very sensitive to variations in the environment. Moist areas on which amphibians depend constitute critical habitats in these ecosystems, significantly affecting the diversity of flora and fauna across a wider area and providing habitat for a variety of other vulnerable species.
