Fulcrum Racing 5 DB Wheelset - Clincher

Tuck those deep-dish carbon 'cross racing tubulars safely away in the closet and outfit your favorite mud-shedding steed for salty winter base miles with the Fulcrum Racing 5 DB Clincher Wheelset. Built to mesh perfectly with your disc-brake equipped frame, these wheels house tires ranging from 25mm to 32mm to tackle long hours on the pavement, hardpack dirt roads, or gravel adventures with smooth durability. Fulcrum builds the Racing 5 DB with 27. 5mm-deep aluminum rims. They're shallow enough to minimize rotational weight for fast spin-up when the traffic light turns green while still garnering a bit of aerodynamic advantage while grinding out interval sets. Unlike a full carbon wheel, which may feel a bit stiff for everyday training and a bit costly to risk in the winter muck, aluminum provides more radial give between the rough road and your body to smooth out bumps and vibrations. Nonetheless, the Racing 5 DBs get rolling quickly and hold speed well on flats and descents, all of which is aided by the smooth rolling efficiency of Fulcrum's aluminum hubset. These hubs boast oversized aluminum flanges that improve the spokes' bracing angle for a snappier, more responsive ride. A two-to-one spoke lacing pattern on both the front and rear wheel utilizes 14 spokes on the left side and seven on the right to create an exceptionally strong wheel that resists deflection from the load of disc braking forces. As an added bonus, external spoke nipples at the rim make for easy service and maintenance.

October's Animal
Most commonly found in the tundra of Rocky Mountain National Park, the pika is a close relative of the rabbits and hares, with two upper incisors on each side of the jaw, one behind the other. Being rock-gray in color, pikas are seldom seen until their shrill, metallic call reveals their presence.
