La Sportiva Syborg Alpine Touring Boot

The Syborg Alpine Touring Boot from La Sportiva is the footwear of choice for skimo racers and serious fitness skiers alike. This boot features a lightweight and durable Grilamid shell combined with a carbon fiber and Grilamid cuff, making for an extremely lightweight boot that crushes the uphill while still maintaining a nimble, yet powerful, downhill ability. A specially designed Syborg liner can be molded for that perfect fit, and the LazerGrip2 rubber soles ensure you don't lose traction on the top of a wind-scoured ridge or while rappelling into your latest couloir project. The Syborg keeps things simple with just two buckles and an optional power strap, letting you go from walk to ski at the flip of a switch. In walk mode, the Sybord provides 75 degrees of cuff rotation--any more and you'd have to be double-jointed to use them. With an adjustable forward lean of 14-, 16-, 18-, or 20-degrees, it's easy to dial in the stance that works for you.

October's Animal
Most commonly found in the tundra of Rocky Mountain National Park, the pika is a close relative of the rabbits and hares, with two upper incisors on each side of the jaw, one behind the other. Being rock-gray in color, pikas are seldom seen until their shrill, metallic call reveals their presence.
