Plenty of packs come with fancified carrying systems, gadgetry you didn't know you needed, and the promise of painless ascents, but the Millet Prolighter MXP 60+20 Backpack doesn't go in for all the nonsense. It prefers to keep things simple, with bomber construction, essential features, and a ton of capacity, all of which are more important than built-in solar panels, anti-gravity magnetrons, and the like. The Prolighter can carry nearly 5,000 cubic inches worth of gear (3,660 in its standard configuration, or 4,880 if you expand the extra-large lid), enough for a week on trail or a heavily-loaded winter excursion. Despite this capacity, it keeps things comfortable with a stretchy, thermoformed X-Lighter back panel, Continuous shoulder straps, and a comfortable padded hip belt that distribute weight and keep your load stable. If you need to bivy, you can pull the foam panel out of the back and use it as lightweight padding to keep you off the ground. Since it's made for the alpine, the Prolighter's side compression straps are designed to prevent movement and double as A-frame ski carriers, while the bottom sleeve and front FPP Ergo loops combine to hold two ice axes comfortably for your high-elevation adventures. Gear loops on the hip belt keep smaller climbing items close, and the side and lid pockets hold water bottles, maps, snacks, and whatever else you need for a day or week in the mountains.

The North Cascades have long been known as the North American Alps. Characterized by rugged beauty, this steep mountain range is filled with jagged peaks, deep valleys, cascading waterfalls and glaciers. North Cascades National Park Service Complex contains the heart of this mountainous region in three park units which are all managed as one and include North Cascades National Park, Ross Lake and Lake Chelan National Recreation Areas.
Badgers are animals of open country. Their oval burrows (ten inches across and four to six inches high) are familiar features of grasslands on sandy or loamy soils of the eastern plains or shrub country in mountain parks or western valleys.
