For 10,000 years people have been coming to what is now Petrified Forest National Park. Whether hunting and gathering, building roads and trails, or traveling on US Route 66, the presence of people is documented in the archeological and historical artifacts and buildings found within the park.

Featured Wildlife
The pika is a close relative of the rabbits and hares, with two upper incisors on each side of the jaw, one behind the other. Being rock-gray in color, pikas are seldom seen until their shrill, metallic call reveals their presence.
